It is worth mentioning that prior to this, the minimum requirement for the 32-bit Windows 10 was 16GB and for 64-bit Windows 10, one needed 20GB. These requirements were valid till Windows 10 October 2018 Update, which was also known as Windows 10 version 1809. However, there is no word on why the company has made this change. The software giant has also said that the minimum storage requirement for 32-bit Windows and 64-bit Windows would still be 16GB and 32GB respectively, if they are a part of version 1903 and older of Windows 10 IoT Enterprise. It is also worth pointing out that the new requirement would not affect any users who have opted for storage higher than 32GB. And most users today opt for more than 32GB of storage, so actually, very few will be affected by the change.
In addition to this, there are certain conditions that have been mentioned about RAM and processor as well for users who wish to run the Windows 10 for desktop software. Microsoft has mentioned that laptops that run Windows 10 for desktop should have at least 1GB of RAM for 32-bit Windows and more than 2GB of RAM for 6-bit Windows. Coming to the devices that run Windows 10 for desktop editions, they would require a processor that is clocked at 1GHz or more and is compatible with either x86 or x64 instruction set. The processor should also have support for PAE, NX and SSE2, CMPXCHG16b and LAHF/SAH. In addition to this, it should also support PrefetchW for 64-bit OS installation. It is worth adding that Windows 10 May 2019 update (Windows 10 version 1903) is already available for download on Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool. However, users would still need a valid Windows 10 license to download the latest update. The software giant has also announced that it will be rolling out the May 2019 update slowly in order to collect data about potential bugs before too many people are affected by it.
