The information was first revealed by Jane Manchun Wong who reverse engineered the music streaming app to discover the new features it may come with in the future. The discovery shows an integration of the navigation apps in the settings of the music streaming platform, Spotify. As we mentioned earlier, the integration of the navigation included Google Maps and Waze. The users can decide which navigation app they want to give access so that they can get smart commute updates coupled with Spotify’s playback control. For this, users need to go to the ‘Connect to Apps’ settings in Spotify, and then head to ‘Navigation’ section. From here, they can give access to the apps that they want to. The report also states that Google Maps and Waze both can be connected with Spotify at the same time.

Other than this, users will also have the option to decide whether they want a reminder about using the navigation apps when they are in a car. Waze, a GPS navigation software earlier didn’t have this feature so the users of the app may find it to be a useful addition. However, it is worth mentioning that Google Maps already has similar feature on its platform. With this integration, the users of the Spotify app will get more options.

When launched, this feature can be used by users of the app by going in the ‘Settings for Songs’ sub-menu inside the Spotify app.

Once it is available, the users would be able to scan a code from their friend’s Spotify app and play the same playlist on their app.

— Jane Manchun Wong (@wongmjane) April 2, 2019 We must add that Wong’s discovery of the new features comes through reverse engineering so there is a high possibility that the new features are just being tested and we might not get them.
