Redmi 8 has been launched in two storage variants, 3GB RAM with 32GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage. The base variant will be available with a price tag of Rs 7,999 and the 4GB RAM can be purchased at Rs 8,999. According to the company, the first 5 million Redmi orders of the 4GB of RAM with a 64GB storage model will be shipped to everyone at Rs 7,999 only and also to those who order the 3GB variant. The device will be available in four colour options Oynx Black, Ruby Red and Sapphire Blue. It comes with a splash-resistant P2i coating and Xiaomi’s Aura Mirror design. The handset will start selling from October 12 at 12 midnight onwards through online platforms Mi.com, Flipkart and Mi Home stores.

Redmi 8 features a 6.22-inch High Definition IPS LCD Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The latest device runs MIUI skinned on Android 9 Pie OS. Under the hood, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. The storage can be expanded up to 512Gb via a microSD card. In terms of camera capabilities, Redmi 8 comes with an AI-powered dual rear camera set up. The setup includes a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 main camera sensor with an f/1.8 aperture along with a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The camera system is supported by AI Scene Detection and Google Lens features. While on the front there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera with AI Portrait mode to enable portrait selfies along with face unlock feature. The connectivity options on the phone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, infrared, wireless FM radio, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. Redmi 8 has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The device draws the power from a 5,000mAh battery supported with 18W fast charging technology. However, the company provides a 10W charger inside the box. The 18W charger can be bought separately.
