So, following the first conclusion and to boost sales of consoles, the company is planning to develop a smaller and cheaper version of Nintendo Switch. This version will be even more portable than the Switch. According to a report by Nikkei, the newer and smaller Switch will probably not have some of the features that the original Switch has. Earlier in October, a rumour had surfaced that Nintendo was developing a new Switch that won’t be a successor to the original Switch but it will serve as the product’s smaller version to streamline the product portfolio. There is also a possibility that the plastic dock of the original console could be dropped in the smaller and cheaper version of Switch. Reports also suggest that the screen could get smaller and the company could make the controller a part of the console to justify the cheap price. The original Nintendo Switch has removable joy-cons and screen which could be connected to the screen easily. The dock itself is sold by Nintendo for $90 and it uses USB Type-C which is, of course, universal.
Just like Nintendo 2DS, which was a cheaper version of Nintendo 3DS, the company could revamp the whole console to make it like its predecessor but with fewer features. The newer cheaper console could be the way to increase the sales of the company. We should mention that although the Switch is doing very well, the company now needs to launch a new product for its fans. Last year, Nintendo reportedly sold 17 million Switch consoles.
