Micromax In 2c review: Design and display
The look and feel of Micromax In 2c are basic and simple. The company hasn’t experimented on the design front, and we are not saying that that’s a bad thing. The smartphone has a plastic body and a textured back panel that comes with a camera module and the ‘in’ branding. The right edge has the Power and Volume Rocker keys sandwiched on it and the left has the SIM tray.
The Type-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack and the microphone are placed on the bottom. The speaker of the smartphone is also placed on its back panel, which means that you’ll always have to put the phone upside down while listening to music to get the best possible output. The handset’s back panel gets slightly curved towards the edges and has rounded corners – both of which make the usage of the device easier. Flip over and you will see the front panel of the handset that is dominated by its 6.52-inch HD+ IPS LCD display and has a waterdrop-shaped notch on top to house the selfie camera. The screen of Micromax In 2c comes with a refresh rate of 60Hz and is protected by 2D Glass. The colours protected on the display of the smartphone are vibrant and the images showcased are sharp and clear. The brightness and the sunlight readability could be better, especially the latter. We tried playing a number of videos on YouTube during our time with the phone, and the experience was enjoyable one, considering the price of the device. You can even stream content from several OTT platforms thanks to the Widevine L1 certification that the display has.
To sum it up, we would say that both the design and display of Micromax In 2c are basic, but considering the budget the phone is available in, they aren’t bad. However, we do feel that the company could have included a fingerprint sensor.
Micromax In 2C review: Performance and Cameras
Before we speak about the performance of the phone, let’s talk about Micromax In 2c specifications. The handset is powered by 1.8GHz Unisoc T610 octa-core SoC clubbed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It can also hold microSD cards of up to 256GB. Micromax In 2C runs the stock version of Android 11. It houses a 5,000mAh battery and has a dual camera setup with 8MP primary sensor and a VGA sensor. The software of the device is definitely one among its pros as there is literally no bloatware. Besides this, you won’t even get any annoying notifications or prompts too. Coming to the performance of the handset, Micromax In 2c did better than a lot of other phones in this price range. We faced no problem in carrying out day-to-day tasks like browsing the internet or social media, listening to music and watching videos.
The device can also handle some basic games like Candy Crush and Alto’s Odyssey. However, there were times when it started heating up. Speaking about the battery life of Micromax In 2c, it can easily last more than a day with moderate usage involving an active Instagram account, web-browsing, listening to music and watching videos. It is worth noticing that the handset supports 10W fast-charging and it takes about three hours to charge completely if you use the charger included in the box. Finally, let’s talk about the cameras of Micromax In 2C. As we mentioned earlier, the handset comes with an 8MP primary sensor and a VGA sensor. On the front panel, it also houses a 5MP selfie camera. The primary as well as the selfie cameras of the device come with support for HD video recording.
The 8MP primary camera of Micromax In 2C only managed to take average shots when we used it in outdoor settings in daylight. The images lacked details and were often not sharp enough. The colours were sometimes not very accurate too. Things only worsened when we tried to use the camera in dimly lit conditions. The other rear camera only provides a depth-of-field effect to the pictures. There is nothing extra that it does so there isn’t much to talk about here. The 5MP selfie camera was similar. The images we clicked using it were not sharp enough and it sometimes felt as if we had deliberately used an app to smoothen them.
Micromax In 2C review: Verdict
At a price of Rs 7,499, Micromax In 2C is a decent buy. While the battery life and stock Android software, its cameras are its major con. The performance was smooth most of the time too, except when we faced a heating issue. If cameras aren’t very important to you and you are graduating from a feature phone to an entry-level smartphone, you won’t be disappointed with Micromax In 2C. Pros
