In other words, both these smartphones will now receive the Google Play support and will also receive the software updates on a regular basis. It should be noted that the Honor 20 had already gone through the process and reports suggest that it received the Google Play certification earlier on June 1. Now, the Honor 20 Pro has also received the Google Play certification. We should mention that receiving the certification of Google Play services basically means that the device can now be launched in the international markets as well. Since the Honor 20 had already received the certification, it is already being sold in the western markets. Google’s database lists Honor 20 as Nova 5T and Honor 20 Pro as Nova 5T Po. This rebranding was not yet revealed by the company yet. So, there is a big possibility that the Honor 20-series might be launched as Nova 5T-series in some of the international markets.
The Honor 20-series of smartphones was announced right after the US trade ban on Huawei. If the current circumstances continue, then Honor devices wouldn’t be able to receive the future Android software updates. Yesterday, Honor India made an announcement on its official Twitter handle that stated that all the Honor smartphones and tablets would continue to receive the security patches and Android updates. This news comes as a surprise for the Honor device users and the smartphone market. The users of Huawei and Honor handsets will continue to receive the updates that will keep their devices from being redundant, and the smartphone market would not lose a phone maker. The company also said that the Honor 20-smartphone series – Honor 20i, Honor 20 and the Honor 20 Pro will also be receiving the upcoming Android Q update. So now, the consumers who wanted to buy the newly launched Honor 20-series smartphones, but were hesitant because of the US trade ban, can go ahead and make the purchase.
